This photo was titled, "Our home away from home". The center bunker was the original battery FDC. (Very cold during the first winter) Later we moved over to the bunker on the left. More room and it was deeper under ground. The retaining wall was made out of powder canisters filled with sand. The barrels down front were filled with water for fire safety. The truck above the bunker was used to charge the radio batteries in the bunker. Notice the telephone poles. When a wire man would climb one of these poles it would bend so much that the man would be almost horizontal while working.
