  When we arrived at the port in Inchon we discovered that we would be travelling to Japan in a LST. The battalion's vehicles and some equipment were already on board.
    Battallion personnel was going by troop ship. But our battery will be going with the vehicles on this ship!
    With a top speed of 10 knots (whatever that means) it took us seven days.   (continued)

 

LST - (Landing Ship, Tank) With only a draft of 8 ft in front and 14 ft in back the LST can be high and dry when the tide goes out. It's used for amphibious operations - carrying equipment, cargo and troops.
