The US Marines have a camp on the side of Mt Fuji. It was there in '55 and I beleve its still there. There is an artillery range also on Fuji. Its quite a distance from the marine camp.The firing range was only used in the winter and spring which is not the time for tourists. We stayed at the marine camp and used the range off and on for two weeks. I don't remember that our FDC section did much as far as working with the guns. The battalion had just received the guns the previous month. They were being fired and calabrated for accuracy.
