Joana was off on Friday, and I took the day off, so that we could head out to a tractor show in Jordan.  We also met our friend Rick and daughter Sarah out at the show.  I'm quite interested in these tractors, having grown up with an old John Deere and an old Ford, but I had never been to one of these shows.

We open with an old John Deere Model A Case
A "newer" Farmall Older Farmall, reminiscent of the Cub, with "cultivision" (I believe)
The larger old Farmall, Model M I generally like the red Farmalls, though my favorite old tractors still have to be the old John Deere's
Apparently a Farmall Super C, with some sort of cultivator attached Lucy rode around in the stroller while we were at the show, and seemed pretty contented
Making sure that Lucy has enough sun screen on "Tractor row"
A Farmall Cub, which is what our friends Rick and Jon both own A "newer" Ford–I think an 8N, which is what my Dad owned after he got rid of the John Deere H
McCormick-Deering, which I know absolutely nothing about These old John Deere's are my favorite look, having grown up with an H in the yard.  Here's a '41 "B"
I like seeing the tractors that aren't restored, but still in good condition.  This is how I remember our "H" A 1952 Model B
Here's a fuzzy picture of an "H"–exactly the tractor that we had, growing up Another view of the "H"
The H was built between 1939 and 1947.  We probably bought ours sometime around 1970 and used it into the early 1980's. An unrestored H
Nice shot of a perfectly restored H Closeup of the flywheel, identical to our H, which you started manually by slowly turning the flywheel.
Right front quarter view of the mint H John Deere H
I believe this to be a model GP (1928-1935) Model B
Another view of "tractor row" A Minneapolis Moline R, produced between 1947 and 1952.
Allis Chalmers, possibly a Model B We move into "Ferguson Alley".  The Jordan show this year featured lots of tractors owned by a Ferguson enthusiasts club
I take Lucy over to look at an aftermarket high-crop contraption Lucy is clearly interested
Lucy at the tractor show Peering around at various tractors
Lucy The hat did stay on for quite a while
Joana took some very nice closeup shots of various details Ferguson grill
Detail of the working end of one of the tractors Very nice shot of a Ferguson grill
Lucy Lucy, with old thresher in the background
The hat made it back on Sean and Lucy
Lucy, taking a peek at the barn Another engine closeup
Ferguson 35 Ford something-or-other
Not really sure what this is Oh, apparently a Ford.  This might be the 8N Jubilee model
New rubber Seat shock and spring
The show also featured a handful of old steam-powered tractors, which were closer to the size of steam locomotives An old Minneapolis tractor, with a couple of guys working on it.  I think that these date to the first decade of the 20th century, roughly.
Note the wood box–fuel for the tractor Steam tractor row
Joana and Lucy Another view of the Minneapolis
And the Case These things would occasionally fire up their boilers, pull out of steam alley, and drive around the fair for a bit
There was also an area for old cars and trucks, though in far fewer numbers than the tractors I really liked this beautifully restored old pickup truck
An old work truck Restored Chevy
Grill detail Another view of the lumber truck
Grill of an old Mack truck Can you imagine how bumpy a ride in this truck must have been?
An old local firetruck We head back to tractor row for one last look.   Here's a Farmall B  (1939-1947)
Farmall C (1951-1954) Farmall H (1939-1953)
Farmall M (1939-1952) I thought this was cool--a grandpa driving a kid (grandson?) around on an old John Deere Model B
What a treat for a little boy! This contraption was a home-built crawler, built by the Deere guy in the previous two photos
An old road grader Some Allis Chalmers tractors
I take a final look at the H before we head home This is a fully restored H
Gear shift.  Clutch is the big lever at the right and the throttle is attached to the steering wheel, on the left side Nice view of a John Deere H
One of the main attractions at the show was running an old thresher, driven by one of the steam-driven tractors Chaff
Feeding the thresher Lots of belts running various pieces of the thresher, all driven by the main belt from the tractor
The tractor running the thresher Very long belt
Here are the guys on the Minneapolis, out for a spin Joana and Lucy, in front of the old truck
Rick and Sarah Sarah and Lucy
Nice old John Deere that was driving around We say goodbye to Rick and Sarah

On Sunday, after Lucy's first birthday party on Saturday, we spent the first part of the day out at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival (where Sean used to work, teaching juggling).  Lucy got to see two shows, both of which she loved–The Dewdrops, and Theatre of Fools.  It was great to wander around Festival again, and meet lots of old friends.
