What I remember most about John is his smile. Every time I saw him, I saw a big smile, rosy cheeks, and twinkling eyes. All the while he spoke he had that smile.

Imet your dad only a couple of times but he had a great sense of humorand he knew I had a crush on Uncle Ted Sexton and Iwas a muscian. Itold him I wanted to go to Holland and the next thing Iknew I got a travel log of yours in the mail. I THINK IT WAS YOUR DAD all though I never knew. Ted had a shop on robert and annapolis. I would go and make copies of my dads sheet music. Then Ted started giving me cpoies of Irish music and stories and poems. We became good friends.Thats the only older man I would have ran away with. Inever met Marie but my dad told me how kind hearted she was.MARION WOLTERS sent me a copy of the wolters/verstraetes history .All aunts and uncles and grand parrents are now gone .Thank god for that book of history or my son Kristofor age 20 would never know.Iam 48 years now and my dad tom, and my brother carl and my mom jean have all passed on. So I would like to pass on the book to my cousins Pete, paul jim phil , and dave sons of John Vesrstaete, now deceased and george robert and marylou Verstaete kids of George Verstaete now passad on.I hope the cousins can all meet sometime or you will see me playing in a club come up and say hello.YOUR DAD left a stong impression on me as having a great sense of humor and he loved the idea of the history of your family. He was very proud of you. I still smile when Ithink of Ted. I dont have a computer so I am useing the boy friends. Thats why my spelling sucks. The world was a better place because of your dad and uncle ted. They left their mark. Love 2 cd cousin ? Jean Verstraete

Our deepest sympathy to Claudette and family. I have fond memories of working for John and Claudette in the basement of their Eagan home, and later, on Smith Avenue. It didn't feel like a real job, it felt like an extension of my family. John always had a smile and a story. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was loved and cherished by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Daun and Clair Allen
