Why did you create a series of web pages for your deck project?
As I go through the process of designing and building our deck,
especially during the brainstorming/planning phases, I wanted a single place to
jot down all the ideas that I had, along with photos and drawings—basically,
a design notebook/scrapbook. Since I also wanted to share these ideas
with my wife, and get her thoughts, putting everything on our web site made a
lot of sense. That way, she could review everything easily, either from
home or at work.
Why do you have a collection of comments on every page?
The main goal for this web site was to share ideas/thoughts for the
design of the deck with my wife. I also wanted to get her feedback on
everything, as we proceed through the project. Having comments for every
page makes it easy for her to add comments directly to a page, as she's looking
at it, and enter the comments directly from the web. The comments then
become part of the design notebook, so everything is in one place.
Can anybody add comments on your pages?
No. Since the main goal of these pages was to let my wife and I
capture our thoughts about the deck design, you need a password to add
comments. The general public can view any of the pages on the web site,
but only my wife and I, and a few close friends, can add comments.
Can you please send me a
password, so that I can log in?
Sorry, my intention isn't to let the general public add comments to
these pages. You can, however, always send me E-mail with your
thoughts/comments, to: sean@seans.com.
What technologies
and tools have you used to create these pages?
Visual Studio .NET 2003, ASP.NET 1.1, C#, and SQL Server 2000.
